About Historic Prairie Village

Historic Prairie Village is a living history site near Madison, SD featuring a recreated 1900's village of artifact-filled historic buildings. We also feature a working railroad, one of the only remaining railroad chapel cars, a fully operational steam carousel, a restored opera house entertainment venue, public camping, and multiple special events throughout the summer and early fall. Our founding Steam Threshing Jamboree in late August brings thousands of visitors to experience steam and horse threshing, sawmill and other demonstrations, parades, train and carousel rides, a flea market, tractor pulls, and many other entertainment options.

The Historic Prairie Villige Annual Steam Threshing Jamboree in late August brings thousands of visitors to experience steam and horse threshing, sawmill and other equipment demonstrations, parades, hundreds of tractors, train and carousel rides, tractor pulls, free musical entertainment, a large flea market, food, and fun!

Join us for our 61st Annual Steam Threshing Jamboree featuring Stationary Engines, Orphan and Garden Equipment August 22-25, 2024!
