RULES FOR HALL OF FAME

In honor of the service rendered to Fairs and Celebrations within the Heartland Association of Fairs, Festivals & Events, an award is given to a person or persons for distinguished achievements in, or contributions to the Fairs, Festivals and Events within Heartland Association membership.

Each award shall consist of a plaque and/or other appropriate award. Hall of Fame recipients will also have their picture and a one-page article describing their accomplishments placed in a permanent record.

The presentation of the awards will be made at such times as the association meets at their annual convention.
ELIGIBILITY

Conditions of Eligibility are as follows:

Nominations may be made for the Hall of Fame Award by any director or officer of a Fair, Festival or Event that is a member of the Heartland Association, by an Associate member of the Heartland Association, or an Officer or Director of the Heartland Association of Fairs, Festivals and Events Board.

Hall of Fame recipients shall have been identified with Fairs or Celebrations for a minimum of ten years.

The nominees shall have made outstanding contributions to Fairs, Festivals or Events through their organization and through the Heartland Association of Fairs, Festivals and Events.
NOMINATIONS

The procedure to be followed by the Awards Committee in the selection of recipients shall be as follows:

The Association members shall be notified in writing when nominations are being received. The date the nominations are due will be set by the committee. A nomination form for the award will be mailed and/or emailed to every active member of the association.

The Heartland Association Awards Committee and Board Officers will review all nominations received and vote for the recipient or recipients. The committee may choose the number of recipients.

It shall be the duty of the Secretary of the Association to purchase the appropriate awards. All records are to be kept by the Secretary of the Association who will act as custodian of these records.

All questions coming before the Awards Committee of the Association shall be decided by a majority vote of this committee.

The Awards Committee shall have the authority to decide any questions not specifically covered by these rules.

Nomination may be made by a Fair, Festival, Event or an Associate member.
This form must be completed in full and contain sufficient information documenting the Nominee’s contributions and achievements to determine the candidate’s worthiness to receive the Award.

Number of years affiliated with State/Heartland Association. Weight: 5%
List the offices and important committees this individual has been involved within the Fair, Festival or Event industry. Weight: 10%
Give a summary of the individual’s accomplishments within the Fair, Festival or Event industry.
Weight: 40%
Convince the committee as to why they should receive this award over the other nominees.
List any board positions held or committees involvment this individual has served on within the Heartland Association or former ND or SD Organizations. Weight: 5%
List any participation in IAFE, IAFE Zone IV, or any affiliated organization, other than the Heartland Association. Weight: 5%
List any awards the nominee might have received, and civic or community involvement. Weight: 5%
Give a brief summary about the nominee’s business or occupation, community involvement and anything else you might consider important. Weight: 5%
Give a summary about the nominee’s family. Weight: 5%
Give any information about the nominee that you think is important in considering the candidate for the Hall of Fame Award. Weight: 5%
